WELCOME TO THE ONLINE BELGIAN SHEPHERD PEDIGREE DATABASE. This project that now has 32260 dog pedigrees has been made to give a better picture of the dog race. By connecting these 32260 pedigrees together one giant pedigree is created with dogs from around the world. Because all the information is only added once to the database it becomes very easy to find what you are looking for. When the correct dog has been found you are able to view its pedigree. This shows you the selected dog, the parents, the grandparents and the great-grandparents. You can click on any of these dogs to view their pedigree. This way you can "walk" through a dog pedigree and go back many generations. Becasue so many pedigrees have been merged into one big one lots of interesting data can be shown. It is possible to calculate the coefficients of Kinship, Relationship and Inbreeding of any dog very accuratly. Using such tools has shown this pedigree database to be an extremly valuable resource of information used by breeders and enthousiasts. To keep a little controle over the dogs entered into the database only registered members of the website are allowed to enter information into the database. Registration is free and will give you full access to all the elements of this website. BELGIAN SHEPHERD DATABASE - GENERAL INFORMATION FOR USERS 1. Belgian Shepherd Database is a database of open access. Each registered user can add dogs according to the above instruction. The information once put can be modified by the user putting them or the administration only. 2. The administration realizes that errors may occur while putting new data and takes no responsibility for that fact. However, all data will be supplemented and verified whenever possible. This is of great importance to us that the information contained here are credible. 3. Registered users may comment on the errors spotted under each dog's chart or send info to team@belgi.pl 4. The main idea behind the Database is to carry as much information as possible about each dog. This holds especially for the matter of health and hence all users registering their dogs are asked to fill in carefully the appropriate forms, particularly those concerning epilepsy. In case such data were put by the users who are not the owners or breeders of the dog in question, we kindly ask that the exact source of such data is given. Due to the vast number of the registered dogs suffering from epilepsy the ratio of the healthy animals to those being sick may be distorted. This is so because a vast number of litters free from this disease has not been considered. It is to be born in mind while checking the pedigree of each dog. 5. Pictures are an important source of information about each dog. Adding someone else's photos is a matter of controversy, therefore people who do not wish their pictures to be put in the Database are asked to inform the administration about this fact. http://galeria.belgi.pl is where the photos are available in free access. They are common property and of open use for all Belgian Shepherd enthusiasts from all over the world. This is our contribution to the history of the breed, and so we hope for understanding in case of the pictures placed here.
